Weekly Newsletter 12/6/10

**NOTES TO PARENTS**
We are having an art day on Thursday, December 16th. If you have done your fingerprints and would like to come in and help that would be great. We will start at 9:00 with our 3rd grade art projects then after lunch we will create our Reading Buddies gifts and another fun project for the students to take home. If you would like to volunteer please let me know via email. Misty_fite@yahoo.com

Our Christmas program is right around the corner, Wednesday, December 15th at Grace Chapel. We will perform Alvin and the Chipmunks. We will be working on our program a lot this week.

I will also administrating our CBM tests this week for our second quarter. I will send out an email letting you know when they are complete.

Friday, December 17th is report card day. This is a half day with NO after school and NO lunch. This is the start of our Christmas break. Class will resume on Monday, January 3rd. We will be having a holiday party in our classroom on this date. Please feel free to send in goodies for the class.

In Phonics, we will be working with diphthongs.

In Math, we will be working on fractions as well as multiplication facts. In Saxon math we will be working on drawing and measuring line segments to the nearest half inch, acting out, drawing pictures, and writing number sentences for “equal-groups” stories.

In reading, we will be learning about details of a story.

In writing and language arts, we will learn about verbs and organizing paragraphs.

In Science, we will learn about volcanoes and earth movements.

In Social Studies, the class will learn about American character.
