**NOTES TO PARENTS**
I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable winter break. Things will get back to normal starting today. The students will have homework tonight. Please make sure you child is getting his/her homework done. Reading Logs will start again today. Students not completing their homework will be assigned detention.
Wednesday, January 5th is Dud for Dollars (Dress Down Day for $1). Please remember there must be no guns, violence or inappropriate clothing worn on this day.
Friday, January 7th is a Big Event from 5 to 7:30 for our parents. Food will be cooked by two of the LPA great cooks. There will also be a movie and special informational meeting for the parents.
There will be NO school on Monday, January 17th for MLK Holiday.
Our 100th Day is Monday, January 24th. It is very important your child is at school and on time. This is a very important funding day for the school. There will be many activities going on this day.

In Phonics, we will be working with syllable division.
In Math, we will be working on estimation. In Saxon we will focus on multiplication.
In reading, we will be learning about main idea and details.
In writing and language arts, we will learn about adjectives and putting your voice to work
In Science, we will learn about exploring the universe.
In Social Studies, the class will learn about Eleanor Roosevelt.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Weeky Newsletter 12/13/10Q
**NOTES TO PARENTS**
We are having an art day on Thursday, December 16th. If you have done your fingerprints and would like to come in and help that would be great. We will start at 9:00 with our 3rd grade art projects then after lunch we will create our Reading Buddies gifts and another fun project for the students to take home. If you would like to volunteer please let me know via email. Misty_fite@yahoo.com. I am in still in need of volunteers.
Our Christmas program is Wednesday, December 15th at Grace Chapel. We will perform Alvin and the Chipmunks. We will be working on our program a lot this week.
I will complete my CBM testing today. If you would like to discuss your child’s assessment please feel free to contact me.

Friday, December 17th is report card day. This is a half day with NO after school and NO lunch. This is the start of our Christmas break. Class will resume on Monday, January 3rd. We will be having a holiday party in our classroom on this date. Please feel free to send in goodies for the class. I will provide the cups, plates, and silverware. If your child would like to bring in a movie we will choose which movie to watch out of which ones are brought in. Please make sure the movies are PG or G.
Our character winner for November (Responsibility) was Mireya. She had lunch with the principal this past Friday. Our monthly character ticket winner was Sabrina. She watched a movie and had popcorn this past Friday.

In Math, we will be working on fractions as well as multiplication facts. In Saxon math we will be working on drawing and measuring line segments to the nearest half inch, acting out, drawing pictures, and writing number sentences for “equal-groups” stories.
In reading, we will be learning about details of a story.
In writing and language arts, we will learn about verbs and organizing paragraphs.
In Science, we will learn about volcanoes and earth movements.
In Social Studies, the class will learn about American character.

Pancakes with the Principal
Tomorrow is Pancakes with the Principal. Pancakes are 50 cents each. We will start serving at 7:45 and end at 8:15. Please have your student come and enjoy pancakes with the principal.
