**NOTES TO PARENTS**
We are down to the last 2 weeks of school. This is our last week of homework. Please continue to make sure your child is doing and turning in his or her homework. Our last day of school will be Friday, May 28th. We will continue to learn new concepts this week. The last week of school we will be reviewing.
If your child will not be here the last day of school please send a note in with them so I can make sure they receive their report card on their last day.
We will have an end of the year party on the last day of school. Students maybe bring in a snack and a movie for the class.
Friday, May 21st PJ Day. Since my class did such a wonderful job for my sub last Thursday I have decided to give them an Eeggee’s and PJ Party.
Thank you to everyone that donated oranges and water for Field Day. The students had a great time.
This week our will be testing the students. This is our last standardize testing for the year.
There is nothing for them to study.

** WHAT WE ARE LEARNING**
In Phonics, we will be working on syllable division.
In Math, we will be dividing a two-digit number by a one-digit number, determining unit cost, locating information on a map, showing addition, subtraction, and multiplication on a number line, and identifying unit of measure for long distance.
In writing and language arts, we will continue to review parts of speech.
In Science, we will continue our research project on an inventor.
In Social Studies, we will learn about explorers.

Weekly Newsletter 5/3/10

Our Book Fair will be the week of May 3rd through May 7th. It will be buy one book get one free. This is also teacher appreciation week.
Wednesday, May 12th is Field Day. We will need donations of oranges and water.
This last 4 weeks of school is very busy. We have many things going on in and out of the classroom.
Wednesday, May 5th is our last Dress Down Day for a $1 this year.
Friday, May 7th is our last Pancake Breakfast with the Principal.

In Math, we will be simplifying expressions containing parentheses, multiplying three or more factors, writing tenths using common and decimal fractions, making and using a multiplication table, identifying prime numbers less than 20, and working backward to solve a problem.
In writing and language arts, we will review nouns.
In Science, we will start a research project on an inventor.
In Social Studies, we will learn how a government works.
