**NOTES TO PARENTS**
Love of Reading week has been moved to February 15th through 19th. If anyone would like to volunteer to read to the class please let me know by Friday. We will have a couple of guest readers in our room this week as well.
We will have a class Valentine’s party on Friday, February 12th from 2:00-3:00. If you would like to send in a snack for the class you are more than welcome. I would like to keep the sweets to a minimum. Chips, veggie tray, or Chex Mix are a couple of examples of things I would like to have for the kids. Also I am attaching a list of all the kid’s names for Valentine Cards.
Our character trait for February is Caring. January’s character lunch winner was Danielle Ortiz. Good job Danielle.
Please make sure your child is reading nightly. Reading logs are due Friday morning.
Wednesday, February 24th is Grandparents Day. Please invite your child’s grandparents to join us for many fun activities. Lunch will also be served. I will put more information in the next newsletter.
There will be NO school on Thursday, February 25th and Friday, February 26th for Rodeo Break.
** WHAT WE ARE LEARNING**
In Phonics, we will work on compound words.
In Math, we will be working on division with a common denominator, finding half a number, identifying the number of days in each month, identifying the number of days in a year, and identifying the commutative property of multiplication.
In writing and language arts, we will continue our unit on the mechanics of capitalization and punctuation.
In Science, we will continue to learn about rocks and minerals.
In Social Studies, we will learn about our federal government.
