Newsletter For the week of 11/30/09

**NOTES TO PARENTS**

I want to thank all the parents that donated money or turkeys for our Thanksgiving Feast. It was a huge success.

We only have 2 more weeks left of our second quarter. All work must be turned in by Friday, December 11th. If work is missing it will result in a zero. Report Cards will come home Wednesday, December 16th. This is a half day with no after school and no lunch. This is also the start of our holiday break. School will be out from Thursday, December 17th thru Friday, January 1, 2010. Class will resume on Monday, January 4th. This is the start of a new quarter with many new concepts being added daily. Please make sure your child is on time and in class daily.

Students will start to work on AIMS test prep starting this week. 3rd grade is the first year students encounter AIMS. We will be working daily on different skills to prepare them for the test.

There will be a Christmas program at Grace Chapel on December 9th starting at 9:15 am. All parents are welcome. Each class will be performing a song for the school.

** WHAT WE ARE LEARNING**
In Phonics, we will learn about suffixes.
In Math, we will be working on multiplying by 7, locating and naming points on a number line with a scale of 10, estimating capacity, drawing a bar graph using a scale of 10, identifying and drawing lines of symmetry, and writing division problems in three ways.
In writing and language arts, we will be starting our unit on adjectives and adverbs.
In Science, we will continue to learn about life cycles of animals and plants.
In Social Studies, we will start our unit on Rome.

Spelling List


Monday: Write each word 3 times
Tuesday: write words 1-15 in sentences.
Wednesday: write words 1-15 in ABC order
Thursday: Study
Friday: Test
