Weekly Newsletter 9/14/09

October 7th is Dress Down Day. Students may wear anything except flip-flops, spaghetti straps, muscle shirts, or anything with violence on it. If you do not want your child to participate in Dress Down Day you child may wear normal uniforms.

October 2nd is Pancake breakfast with the principal. Pancakes will be on sale. This date is also our monthly character lunch. Students will vote for the most trustworthy in the class and that student will have lunch with the principal. Also on October 2nd is our Bingo Night.

October 8th is our 40 day of school. It is very important that your child is at school and on time this day. It is one of our funding days. The state pays us based on who is in attendance and on time.

Progress Reports were sent home with every student. If you did not receive the progress report for your child please contact me.

** WHAT WE ARE LEARNING**
In Phonics, we will learn about consonant digraphs.
In Math, we will be learning about reading a thermometer to the nearest 10 degrees, rounding numbers to the nearest ten, writing addition and subtraction facts families, and naming and drawing polygons.
In writing and language arts, we will start working on nouns and verbs.
In Science, we will be learning about light and sound.
In Social Studies, the class will learn about the land.

Spelling List
Monday: Write words 3 times each
Tuesday: Write words 1-15 in sentences
Wednesday: Write words 1-15 in ABC order
Thursday: study words
Friday: Test
